What Did My Pediatric Dentist Tell Me?

I happen to be one of those lucky parents who've managed to find a good, reliable Pediatric Dentist in Sugar land. We've moved here recently and finding a good pediatrician and kid’s dentist was one of our major concerns because mediocre dental health runs in our family or so I'd like to believe! I have undergone the harrowing experience of a tooth pullout at the age of 5 and so has my elder son. My younger one is still young, but she was already complaining that her teeth were hurting when we were preparing to move to Sugar land. We decided to start her treatment in the new city as we were in the process of moving by then.

So when we moved to Sugar land the instant that our younger one repeated her complain of hurting tooth, we started looking for Pediatric Dentist in Sugar land. And we found one. A parent of my child's classmate recommended her name. When we took and appointment to get our kid examined, we were happy about our decision. This kids' dentist is really good. Patient has a way with kids and is very, very well informed. She gave us some very valuable information about dental health and tooth decay that we'd like to share with parents of preschoolers or school going kids.

She told us that bad dental habits i.e. not brushing and flossing regularly is not the only cause of tooth decay. Many a times the causes go deeper than that. Too much sugar in one's day to day diet, bottled water etc were some of the other lesser blamed causes of early tooth decay. Sugar feeds bacteria and these bacteria produce acid which depletes calcium making the foundation and structure of our teeth week. This bacterium also creates plaque which contains acid that affects our dental health. When it is allowed to go unnoticed, cavities are formed.

When babies are born they do not have any harmful bacteria in their mouth. What most moms do is that while feeding the kid baby food they use the same food for eating. Sharing spoon with an infant is not a reflection of mother's love. At least not an educated, aware mother who is working to make her kids healthy. As parents you have to take responsibility for your child's dental health and understand that prevention is the only cure because once bacteria are formed antibiotics don't work to get rid of them. So take care from the start so you don't face problems later that are difficult to reverse!
